Blind Man Drives Car Independently
Now blind people can drive the car independently, yes this is true. The man who drives the car is Mark Anthony Riccobono, a blind executive who directs technology, research, and education programs for the NFB. He piloted a special car made in collaboration between the NFB and Virginia Tech. He successfully navigated a 1.5 mile road course section at the Daytona International Speedway.
The test drive was doing this past week which involved making several turns, avoiding obstacles, some stationary, and some dropped at random by a van travelling in front of the car, as well as passing the van without collision.
