World's First Wind-Powered Vehicle - Wind Explorer
German adventurers and inventors Dirk Gion and Stefan Simmerer have just completed a wondrous three week journey from Perth to Sydney in their sprightly, pod shaped car. The car, officially called the Wind Explorer, weighs just 200kg (440lb) and can travel at more than 88.5kph (55mph).
It has now become the first wind-powered vehicle to be driven across a continent. It can cover 100km (62 miles) using just half the electricity needed to power a washing machine. And the three-week journey from Perth to Sydney cost just A$16 (£10).
