Sony Unveils 13.3-inch Vaio S Notebook

Today Sony unveiled the 13.3-inch VAIO S Series laptop line, similar to the C Series line announced on Feb. 22, but there are key differences with these smaller-sized notebooks. Sony did not mention a second generation Intel Core i7 processor option with the C Series models, but they will officially be available in this line, along with Core i5 and Intel Turbo Boost 2.0. Select models will have a 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6630 graphics card like the select VAIO C Series models, and will have a few similar built-in features.

The trackpad on the S notebook is larger than on other Vaio offerings and the machine can be optioned with Blu-ray. It has a USB 3.0 port for fast connectivity with external storage and other gear. The case of the notebook is made from magnesium for strength and lightness, and the machine is compatible with Intel Wireless Display.

Another interesting feature of the notebook include a lithium polymer battery and an optional high-capacity sheet battery tested by Sony to provide up to 15 hours of mobile battery power for an extra $150. This optional battery can be charged separately and attached to the notebook while it is powered on. Another option is the dual-channel RAID 0 solid state drive with select models. The notebook can be purchased in black or white colors and has up to 750GB of storage.
