The stadium that will be used for the opening ceremonies and opening games along with the final matches was unveiled at the Leaders in Football conference in London, today.
It will include cooling system that will ensure cool environment on the field and in the stands. The parking lot canopies surrounding the stadium will produce solar energy for the stadium.Located in a new development in the north of Doha, the stadium sports a saddle-shaped roof that appears to float above the concrete seating bowl with a retractable canopy that can fully open or close. Encircled by a reflective pool of water, spectators cross the “moat” to enter the building via six bridges. The spectators coming to see the tough, sweaty men battling it out in the field will be able to use new metro line and direct roads to reach the eco stadium. The other eight countries giving tough competition to Qatar for the bid are Australia, South Korea, the United States, England, Japan, Russia, Spain and Portugal, and Belgium and The Netherlands.
